Internet Solutions

MPLS VPN (Continued)

Features

  • 6 Years experience - Internet Solutions continues to successfully grow and manage a MPLS VPN with over 500 customers and 5000 ports.
  • Level of services - The IS MPLS VPN offers guaranteed levels of service. The metrics measured are availability, packet loss, jitter and round-trip time. Each of the 5 different classes of service has its own associated service level offering.
  • AVVID compliant - Internet Solution’s MPLS VPN has been configured to a Cisco standard that ensures it is AVVID compliant. AVVID stands for “architecture for voice, video and integrated data”. With the ICT industry moving towards the concept of “network convergence,” the IS MPLS VPN has been well positioned to provide this service to customers.
  • 12 Local PoPs - IS has MPLS nodes in the major metropolitan centres around South Africa. These locations have primarily been based on customer demand. The nodes are in: Johannesburg (Rosebank, Bryanston, Melrose Arch), Cape Town (Bree Street, Pinelands), Port Elizabeth, East London, Umhlanga, Richards Bay, Bloemfontein, Pretoria and Krugersdorp.
  • 5 International PoPs - IS has followed the international trend of establishing a limited number of primary points of presence which are owned and managed by Internet Solutions. This model is based on the fact that by means of connectivity with our international partners, IS can offer MPLS connectivity with QoS to almost any location with infrastructure in the world. The international IS nodes include: Telehouse London, Heathrow London, Telehouse New York, Hong Kong and Fuschstadt Germany.
  • 5 African PoPs - Over the past few years, IS has strategically focussed its attention on the growth of its network beyond our South African borders into the rest of Africa and surrounding countries. Most of our IS nodes within Africa are connected via satellite. Some of the nodes within neighbouring countries are connected via terrestrial links. Much like with the relationship with our international partners, IS through its satellite network, is able to offer connectivity into almost any other African country.
  • Global partners - IS has existing “bi-directional” partnership agreements with Cable & Wireless, AT&T, Global Crossing, MASERGY and Orient.
  • Medium agnostic - IS provides connectivity back into the MPLS VPN via almost any access medium. These available options include: Leased Lines, ATM, ISDN, ADSL, GPRS, 3G, Edge, HSCSD, HSDPA, Satellite, Fibre and Ethernet.
  • High levels of uptime - The IS MPLS VPN is a robust network that has been built with redundancy. IS has the ability to offer high uptime guarantees for any corporate by using different backup mediums for connectivity.
  • Support of qualified engineers - IS prides itself on the level of skill both from a support and maintenance perspective of the network, as well as the operations team who are tasked with the constant 24x7 challenges of ensuring a world class network of this magnitude is operationally sound.
  • The IS Customer Zone - Customers have the ability to log service requests and track the progress via the IS Customer Zone. The CZ also forms part of the service offering to IS customers and provides the customer a transparent interface into the status of both their own network, as well as the IS backbone.

Benefits

  • Cost effective solution - Economies of scale and reaching levels of critical mass have allowed IS to offer exceptionally competitive pricing in an aggressive ICT market.
  • Reliability with built-in redundancy - With the use of Internet Solutions’ fully meshed MPSL backbone as well as options between multiple access mediums offers customers both reliability and redundancy.
  • Monitoring and notification - IS run a 24x7 Global Support Centre (GSC) from the Campus in Bryanston Johannesburg, South Africa. The GSC is staffed by a team of skilled engineers and call centre agents. Our state-of-the-art monitoring tools, not only monitor the IS MPLS VPN 24 hours a day, but also our customers “last mile” links connecting to the IS network. Should any of these links go down or experience any faults, the GSC will notify the customer and immediately begin the process of fault resolution with the relevant network provider, continually updating the customer on the progress.
  • Consolidation of connectivity - With a single local loop connection into the MPLS network a corporate can gain access to all of IS’ products and services such as Voice Services, the Internet, Security services and InfoConnect.
  • Bandwidth optimisation - With more and more customers moving towards converged networks, the added benefit of different classes of service ensures that customers are able to certify that their networks are optimised, both from a cost and bandwidth utilisation perspective.
  • Latest technology - Although the IS network is a mature, robust and stable network, the IS operations engineers are continually investigating the latest technology and industry trends, to ensure that the IS MPLS VPN remains a world class service.
  • Managed security services - IS has a number of other business units that offer complimentary internet and network related services. These services are seamlessly integrated into the IS MPLS VPN.
